Sheepdog Academy was founded in 2009 to help improve the training of the active and retired law enforcement officers and military members who help to protect and serve us all.
Sheepdog Academy has trained active and retired Federal, state, county, and local law enforcement officers from more than 300 agencies across the United States. We have regularly instructed at police academies in New York, New Jersey, and over the Internet, but have also taught in Delaware, Virginia, and Nevada. For a list of agencies represented at our seminars, please click here.
Our main instructors are Thomas Roughneen, Esq. and Sgt. Jim Gigante.
Thomas Roughneen, Esq. is a firearms attorney, former Assistant Prosecutor, a combat veteran and Army JAG, and National Guard Lieutenant Colonel. He represents LEOs in a range of weapons matters and had the privilege of representing 3 State University LEOs when the NJ State Police denied their permits to carry in retirement. Those cases, and the appeal, led to the 2017 law that expanded the right to carry to almost all uniformed police officers who retire in good standing.
Retired Sgt. Jim Gigante is a retired service Marine with over 20 years experience as a law enforcement officer. He will add practical aspects to the application of LEOSA.
We do not provide legal advice. Sheepdog Academy is a seminar business and sells educational materials. Our seminars and webinars are the best way to learn about LEOSA. You should also 'LIKE' Sheepdog Academy on Facebook for updates on LEOSA-related news and upcoming seminars & webinars.
